Exercises for work at home mommies and their
families
When you’re a stay at home mother almost every waking moment is
dedicated to looking after your children. When you’re busy
changing diapers, cooking, cleaning and planning activities for
you’re kids it’s very rarely that you can find anytime to
yourself let alone 30 to 60 minutes daily to do any of the
recommended exercises you need to stay in good health.
So how do you continue to find the energy to take care of your
family if you’re suffering from poor health
yourself?
Believe it or not there are planned exercises that you can do
with your entire family. The exercises discussed below are not
just fun they can help both you and your family to meet your
daily exercise needs and get in better shape.
Go for a walk
Walking is one of the easiest exercises to take up. Walking is
both low impact and safe for all ages. It requires no special
equipment and can be done anywhere. Take the whole family for
an after dinner walk around the park or around your
neighborhood. Turn it into a family game and see who can power
walk the fastest. Take the family camping and go on a walking
trail to really spice up your workout.
Take up jump roping
Jumping rope is not just fun it’s a great cardiovascular
exercise. The next time your kids are outside jumping rope join
in yourself! In fact why not start a family jump rope group and
invite families from within your own neighborhood or other
families you’re close with.
Jump rope exercises can be switched up to provide variety try
doing double dutch one day, try doing a timed singles jumping
the next day and offer a prize to the family member who can
complete the most jumps.
Take up dancing classes
What to do with that free hour you have while waiting to pick
your children up from their dance class? Why not join a dance
class yourself! Dancing is a great aerobic exercise that tones
and strengthens the entire body. Live out your dream of being
on
“Dancing with the Stars” and learn how to ballroom dance. Dance
classes can even be taken with the entire family, check with
your local dance schools and see what options are
available.
Go biking together
Bike riding is a great way to spend some time with your family
enjoying the beauty of nature and getting in a workout at the
same time.
To easily implant bike riding into your family activities take
your bikes with you to the park. The next time you have to go
down the street to visit a neighbor or pick up one item from
the store take the bike instead of your car.
Play a sport
No matter what you’re families’ level of interest is there is a
sport out there you can play. Ball sports such as basketball,
kickball, and soccer are all fun ways to get your heart pumping
and double as great full body exercises. Most ball sports can
be played right at home and don’t need any other equipment but
a ball. Other sports such as tennis, squash and badminton are
popular and easily accessible at most public facilities.
Learn to swim
Chances are you probably already take your children to the
local swimming pool during summer months but did you know that
swimming is a popular aerobic exercise? Next time you go
swimming with your kids turn it into a contest and count how
many laps everyone can do.
Swimming as an aerobic exercise can also be
learned by taking classes from a trained instructor at a gym.
Though swimming is fun remember to follow safety practices and
wear appropriate gear to ensure no one is injured.
The most important thing to remember when choosing an exercise
for you and your family is to have fun with it. In just a few
days of regular exercise you and your family will begin to see
the results. You will have more energy, have less stress and
sleep better. Three things every stay at home mommy
needs.
