There are many organizations worldwide that support both women and men who are affecte by breast cancer, provide counselling and hold fund raising campaigns to help breast cancer research and offer treatment to those who can’t afford to pay for it.

American Cancer Society

The American Cancer Society (ACS) is a community-based health organization in the United States who fights against all types of cancer, focusing on preventing cancer, reducing suffering, saving lives and helping research, education, awareness and service.

Cancer Care Inc.

Cancer Care is an organization that provides telephone support for cancer issues, medical information, cancer terms definitions, counselling, guidance to local services, free information material and information about support groups and teleconference educational programs.

Cancer Research Foundations of America

Cancer Research Foundations of America (CRFA) is a national NGO focusing on preventing cancer through education and scientific research. It provides information on breast, prostate, lung, colorectal, skin and cervical cancer.

The Living Beyond Breast Cancer

The Living Beyond Breast Cancer is a breast cancer foundation which provides a helpline where you can call for support. Breast cancer survivors are the ones who answer the phone and offer support on breast cancer treatment, diagnosis or survival.

The phone is answered on Tuesedays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST. At other times, you can leave a message and someone will get back to you within 24 hours. However, breast cancer survivors can only offer emotional support, not medical advice.

Medicare Hotline

Medicare Hotline is another breast cancer foundation that offers information on mammography and the way it can help detect breast cancer in early stages.

National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations

The National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations (NABCO) provides answers to a wide variety of questions concerning breast cancer. You can call or email them to get detailed information on breast cancer issues.

National Cancer Institute's Cancer Information Service

National Cancer Institute (NCI) provides a cancer information service where patients can call to receive individual messages answering their specific questions on cancer.

You can call every working day from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to talk to a cancer information specialist. They also have a special telephone line for deaf and hard hearing people.

Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation

The Susan G. Komen is another breast cancer foundation which has joined the fight about breast cancer several years ago, organizing lots of awareness and fund raising campaigns, including breast cancer walks.

They also provide a helpline answered by trained volunteers who have suffered from breast cancer as well. They are committed to offering the latest information availale on breast cancer and breast health. There are also Spanish speaking operators available.

Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization

Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization is an American breast cancer foundation that fights against breast cancer and supports sufferers by providing a hotline answered by trained operators.

The operators are volunteer breast cancer survivors prepared and experienced to answer all kinds of questions on breast cancer issues. They are also happy to provide emotional support to all men and women affected by the disease.
